The parent volunteers arrived in large numbers. Men bring pick axes and sledgehammers, women come with metal basins to remove the decayed cement floors at Kongo Primary. This is a 6 classroom, cement block building for 1st through 4th grades. The junior high also uses one of these rooms because the junior high is over capacity at 224 students and only 3 classrooms in their building. YWF paid a group of masons and carpenters to do the skilled work of restoring the floors, doors, ceiling, and windows after the debris was removed. The work was every bit as hot, difficult, and dusty as you would imagine. Notice the lack of real shoes or gloves for this back-breaking work. I am in awe of the days of heavy labor contributed by the community.
